English Club Laos is a non-profit organisation founded in 2013, with the aim of teaching English to the young people of Luang Prabang and the impoverished regions of Northern Laos.
Laos being one of the poorest countries in the Asia-Pacific region, we strongly believe that English is powerful enabler for the young Laotians seeking to improve their future and the lives of their families.
Our objective is to provide high-quality English teaching to the young people of Laos. Our students come from varying backgrounds, including some of the poorest regions of Northern Laos. With the training and support we provide, we do our best to ensure that young Laotians are better equipped to make the most of opportunities, whether it is to get a better job in the local tourist industry or to pursue further studies within Laos or neighbouring countries.
Our approach combines structured classroom education, delivered by qualified Lao teachers, with exposure to English-speaking volunteers who assist with pronunciation and practicing conversations.
With your help, we believe in making dreams and aspirations possible for our students !
English club Laos provides an integrated course schedule of learning through exploration, scrutiny, and self-reflection. Our classes combine hands-on experience with knowledge-based teaching - take a look at our offerings and contact Englishclublaos to learn more.

I absolutely loved my time volunteering in Laung Prabang at English Club Laos. This experience was honestly one of the best in my life; the landscape is breathtaking and the people are so kind. I taught in a magnificent temple were I used to ride to on my bicycle. Somsouk and his team were very welcoming during my entire stay. They showed me around and included me in events such as a wedding and Alms giving ceremony. I really felt apart of the community whilst I was there because of the way they treated me. It was a great way to integrate with Laos society and really understand the culture. The students are amazing and so eager to learn. If you want to get involved in Laos society I would really recommend English Club Laos to anyone young or old. I have left Laos gaining a family. I hope to visit them again in the future.

The 3 month I spent volunteering with English Club Laos were some of the best months of my life. The students were eager and so wonderful to talk with, especially during conversation classes because I got to learn about their lives and hopes for the future. Living in Luang Prabang and working with the students and Laos teachers was such a great way to get to know the culture more in depth, while also helping the students meet their language goals. The school owner, volunteer coordinator and Laos teachers were extremely welcoming and helpful. They made sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed during my stay. The passion they all have for teaching was infectious and was clearly making a big difference in the students lives. Overall, it was a fantastic experience that I cant recommend enough. I was very happy and lucky to have been part of this school.

I have been to Luang Prabang twice in the last year. Each time visiting the school to join in with English Conversation. The second time I arrived with a teenage Laos friend, Seely, from Oudomxay she was looking for a school for herself. I think we were both impressed at the gentleness and kind, ready to support attitude of the school staff who take a genuine pleasure in their work and the Laos people. There are English and Laos teachers, each bringing their particular understanding of difficulties in mastering English. The school staff also offer advice and help in looking for accommodation, and when the time is right, employment to further develop English conversation. Seely, made her own mind up very quickly and was at her first class within 2 weeks! And I can see she is enjoying the challenges and learning well. Situated in an atmospheric old temple in the best area of Luang Prabang. I love Laos. And they need our English skills. Talk to them. You'll be so glad you did.

😔The day has really come where I leave Laos for real. I can not fully communicate how rewarding, transformative, and meaningful my experience has been.
👫👭👬The friendships I have made and built here will last for a lifetime and I am so grateful for everyone I have met.
🙇🏻♀🤗I have been continually inspired everyday by these students and I cannot wait to apply everything THEY have taught ME to my life back home. I want everyone to know that you have impacted my life way more than I have tried to communicate to you.
🙏🏼🙏🏼A HUGE THANK YOU to the staff and teachers at English Club Laos • the multiple volunteers I have met along the way • the greater community of Luang Prabang • and of course, the students at English Club and my friends who I will miss dearly.
☺📲I will miss you all so much, and please don’t forget that even though I will be back in America soon I am still your teacher and a friend- please don’t forget to stay in touch
🥰🥰See you again, I’m sure of it. This is not goodbye, it’s just see you later

It took me awhile to process this amazing and massively transformative trip. I’ll also admit a part of me wanted to keep it to myself as long as i could. I walked into this quite blind, unaware of what to expect & what my daily life would be like. I essentially moved to another country for a month to do a job, teaching multiple classes a day alongside the wonderful teachers at English Club Laos. I worked with small classes, large classes, little ones and older ones, and I enjoyed every moment of it. the culture shock was not nearly as ground shaking as missing home was, in fact, adapting was the easiest part (minus the humid heat!). for once in my life it truly is hard to find words for this experience, as well as all the ones that have followed since i’ve been home. all i can say is that these kids and teachers took a piece of my heart and are keeping it safe. i will be back, this time even more prepared, and still ever ever grateful.
If you are interested in volunteering with the kids of english club laos, feel free to message me and i can give you all the details you need. not only are the kids wonderful but so is the country itself. the culture, the food, & the people are rich with vibrancy and a pure kind of energetic warmth you can’t find elsewhere. i miss this place every day ever since i have been home!
to Nikki Navarrete, who was my buddy through out all of this: I am more than grateful i got to experience this with you. I can’t wait for the many more adventures we have together!
to all of my laos friends and students: i’m missing you all dearly. plan on hearing from me very very soon ❤
